Painted Seashell

I love going to the beach! You can find so many different seashells!I found this seashell at Crescent Beach in Whiterock, BC. But it was so plain and white, so i just had to add a splash of colour to it!

Magazine Sketch

This is something that we did in art class. You got to pick a magazine photocopy that was cut in two. You picked one half that you glue down on a piece of paper and one half you draw on that piece of paper. You basically had to replicate the other half of the magazine cover onto the paper. But, you couldn't use anything but a pencil and an eraser.

There are little techniques that I used like:
- Shading ( giving it texture by drawing many lines)
- Smudging ( rubbing pencil shavings onto the paper)
- Sketching ( not connecting a line completely. drawing many lines to form a shape)
- Colouring darkly
- Colouring lightly
-Taking my time!!!!!! ( also looking at every detail)

Looks nice, doesn't it?

Flower Sketch

This is a drawing that I did of a flower. It was a rainy day when I did this. I couldn't ride my bike, couldn't go to the park, I couldn't do anything outside. So I decided to draw. But then guess what? I couldn't think of anything to draw! So I looked everywhere. I stopped looking when out the window, I saw a single flower in my backyard. It was a beautiful bright pink rose with petals that looked as soft as feathers. A lime green stem with five leafs was swaying in the wet breeze.

I didn't exactly draw that flower but I did draw a rose! It was a different kind of rose that probably doesn't and won't ever exist in real life, but hey! That's the fun of art! Imagination!

The Popsicle Stick Boat

This is a very unique project that I did for school. For our Social Studies final project, we had to look up explorers and do a project on them. So I looked up John Cabot and focused on his use of transportation. When I looked on the computer, I found out how his boat looked.

I tried to replicate it a well as I could. I didn't do the sails . But I did the Crow's Nest and the two decks. With just popsicle sticks and some hot glue, I think I did a pretty good job!

The actual process of making it was pretty simple. All I had to do was layer the edges one on top of the other for the outer frame. For the deck, I glued the thin edges of the sticks together. The Crow's Nest was the hardest to do. It took a lot of breaking the popsicle sticks in half and tons of glue. But it was so much fun!!!!!
