The Popsicle Stick Boat

This is a very unique project that I did for school. For our Social Studies final project, we had to look up explorers and do a project on them. So I looked up John Cabot and focused on his use of transportation. When I looked on the computer, I found out how his boat looked.

I tried to replicate it a well as I could. I didn't do the sails . But I did the Crow's Nest and the two decks. With just popsicle sticks and some hot glue, I think I did a pretty good job!

The actual process of making it was pretty simple. All I had to do was layer the edges one on top of the other for the outer frame. For the deck, I glued the thin edges of the sticks together. The Crow's Nest was the hardest to do. It took a lot of breaking the popsicle sticks in half and tons of glue. But it was so much fun!!!!!

Funny Comic

Making comics is something that I like to do in my spare time. This is the first comic I ever made. It's sort of an advice collum/comic that gives you advice and funny pictures to go with it! Like you should always cover your mouth when you sneeze and find "mature" ways to deal with a situation. Yup. "MATURE" ......... Anyways, I hope you like it!

Picture Perfect Parrot!

I drew this parrot in the fourth grade. We had some free time and I thought, "What to do.... what to do.... what, to, do?" I was looking around the room for something to, well, do! I looked here and there. There and here. And then I saw our wallpaper for the classroom had a parrot on it. So I thought, "Hey! Why don't I draw a parrot?" I took out my drawing book and my pencil and started drawing. I erased so much that my eraser had almost run out, all because of one picture! But, I have to say, all of that erasing sure made a picture perfect parrot!

My Delicious Recipies! (Part I)

Are you hungry? Are you bored of looking up no good recipies in a cook book? Do you want food that is delicious and easy to make? Well you've come to the right place my friend. Because I have invented recipies that are delicious and easy to make. Welcome to Anika V.'s Recipie Page!

                But beware because:

Ok. Let's first start with a few drinks. One of my favorite things to drink on a hot, sunny, summer afternoon is a cold glass of fruit punch. What you need is:

   -A glass
   -Soda water
   -Your favorite citric juice
   -A few ice cubes
   -Some cut fruit

 1. Mix in your glass the soda water and juice
 2. Cut your fruits into bit-size pieces and cut a small slit in the bottom of each one. Stick the fruits all around the rim of the glass until you have made a full round.
 3. Take out a straw and put in glass.
 4. Put in the ice cubes
      Enjoy!

Another drink I like is a nice, vanilla milkshake. The ingredients are:

   - Some milk
   - Some vanilla icecream
   -One tsp of vanilla extract
   - Chocolate shavings

                1. Take out your blender and blend up the vanilla icecream.
                2. Taste. If needed add milk and/or vanilla extract.
                3. After you have finished the mixture, pour into glass.
                4. Add a straw.
                5. Sprinkle the chocolate shavings ontop.
                     Enjoy!

Let's move on to a dessert.

Marshmallow surprise is one that I thought of after playing in the snow because I wanted to have hot chocolate. So I took out the chocolate mix and the marshmallows and I thought, "What would marshmallows taste like baked?" So here they are. These are the ingridients:

              -Large marshmallows
              -Brown sugar
              -1 tblsp of butter

                        1. Preheat the oven at 350 degrees F for ten mins.
                        2. Take out two baking pans and put a sheet of tinfoil on each one.
                        3. Cover the foil for each one with a thin layer of butter
                        4. Cover each buttered pan with marshmallows. Make sure that they are at least 2cm away
from the edge of each pan.
                        5. Place each pan in the center of each oven rack and set the time for 2mins.

       Caramel Candy
(Make this during step 3 for the marshmallows) :

          1. Melt the butter in the oven until it turns to liquid.
          2. In a small bowl, mix the butter with 4 tblsp of brown sugar
          3. Put the butter and sugar mixture on a frying pan and fry until mildly-soft.
          4. Once the marshmallows are out of the oven and have formed two large sheets, place the caramel
candy onto one of the sheets. Lay the other sheet on top.
          5. Cut into squares.
              Enjoy!

My Really Random Poem

I'm kind of bored so I am going to write poem!

There once was a birdy who lived in a nest

Living with him, there was a small pest

The birdy got really angry at him

So he tried to throw him into the trash bin

The birdy was  not at all very wise

He did not realize that the pest flies

The birdy tried to swat him down

But then the pest took his crown

All of a sudden the birdy got scared

He thought that he actually might be impaired

Maybe it's 'cause of his mean older brother

But he realized that this pest was his mother

An Absolutely Beautiful Fall Day

This picture was taken when me, my mom, and my dad went out to admire the fall colours. We were going down the street when we saw this beautiful tree. So, we stopped to take a picture. But instead of taking the tree, I took the sun. It looks so pretty! I showed my dad the picture. "How did you get that picture so well?" he asked me. "Um... natural instincts?" I said. Then I laughed. Then we moved on and went to the park down our street. And when we got there, it was so beautiful!
